Children & teens
Support that meets young people where they are.
Heather works with children beginning at age 5 and with teenagers, adapting therapy to each young person’s comfort, maturity, needs, and strengths.
A safe, age-appropriate space
Children and teens do not always have the words to explain what is happening inside. Therapy can help them understand emotions, notice patterns, practice coping skills, communicate more clearly, and feel supported while they navigate difficult experiences.
Reasons families may seek support
- Anxiety, worry, or fear
- Depression, low self-esteem, or withdrawal
- Anger and emotional regulation
- Behavioral or school-related concerns
- Grief, trauma, or major life changes
- Family stress and communication challenges
- Identity, coping, and relationship concerns
What the first session looks like
A caregiver is typically present during the first session to share background information and help the child feel comfortable. Heather uses an age-appropriate assessment to learn about concerns, strengths, supports, and goals. Together, the family and Heather begin a collaborative treatment plan.
Later sessions are shaped by the child’s needs and comfort and may include a mix of individual and family sessions.
Comfort and sensory supports
The office includes fidget toys, coloring books, visual stimulation, low-lighting options, blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, drinks, snacks, a drawing board, tactile grounding tools, and a sound machine. Young clients may use what helps them feel comfortable and settled.
